New combo therapy aims to calm immune attack on kidneys

NCT ID NCT00977977

First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether combining two immune-suppressing drugs, rituximab and cyclosporine, can safely reduce protein leakage in the urine of people with membranous nephropathy, a kidney disease where the immune system damages kidney filters. About 30 adults with persistent protein in their urine will receive the drugs over 6 months and be followed for up to 24 months. The goal is to see if the combination leads to remission of protein loss and is safe.
