Wearable device tracks stroke Patients' first steps to recovery
NCT ID NCT07638462
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study aims to learn how patients with severe stroke move during their hospital stay. Fifty adults will wear a small activity tracker (activPAL) that records lying, sitting, standing, and stepping. Researchers will compare this data with standard mobility goals to understand typical movement patterns and how well patients meet those goals. The findings may help improve future stroke rehabilitation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors design better mobility programs for stroke patients, potentially improving long-term recovery.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study (50 people) that only measures movement, not treatment. It may not lead to direct improvements in care.
