First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a 14-day course of the antibiotic rifaximin can reduce bothersome bloating in adults with irritable bowel syndrome, functional constipation, or related conditions. About 78 participants will receive either rifaximin or a placebo, and researchers will measure changes in bloating severity using a simple 7-point scale. The goal is to find a safe, short-term treatment for a common and uncomfortable symptom.
