First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a personalized rehabilitation program helps people with persistent spinal pain syndrome type II (failed back surgery syndrome) return to work after receiving a spinal cord stimulator. 112 participants will be randomly assigned to either the personalized program or usual care. The main goal is to see if the program improves work ability.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
personalized biopsychosocial rehabilitation program
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a proven rehab plan to help people with chronic back pain return to work after spinal cord stimulation.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small trial (112 people) testing a behavioral program, not a drug or device. Results may not apply to everyone, and the program may not improve work ability more than usual care.
