NCT ID NCT04273360
First seen Nov 24, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested whether using physical restraints (like wrist straps) less often in ICU patients on breathing machines could reduce the time they spend in delirium (confusion). 423 adults were randomly assigned to either routine restraint use or restraint only for severe agitation. The goal was to see if a more careful approach to restraints leads to clearer thinking during recovery.
