Tech & diet team up to fight Diabetes' silent danger

NCT ID NCT04614168

Summary

This study tested if using the latest automated insulin delivery technology along with a low-carbohydrate diet could help restore the body's natural defense against dangerously low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in people with type 1 diabetes. Twenty-four participants with long-term type 1 diabetes were split into two groups: one used the new tech and diet for eight months, while the other continued their standard care. The main goal was to see if achieving very tight blood sugar control could fix a broken internal alarm system that fails to warn people when their blood sugar drops too low.
