First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at how a natural fiber called resistant starch (from potatoes) or a placebo (cellulose) affects gut bacteria in 30 veterans who have both cirrhosis (liver scarring) and PTSD. The goal is to see if these supplements can increase healthy gut bacteria and improve brain function. Participants will take the supplement for several weeks and provide stool and blood samples.
