NCT ID NCT02029898

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a fast-acting opioid called remifentanil during general anesthesia for emergency C-sections is safe for premature babies. It involved 53 mothers and their newborns. The main goal was to see if the babies had healthy Apgar scores (a measure of newborn well-being) five minutes after birth. The approach aims to balance pain control for the mother with the baby's ability to adapt to life outside the womb.
