New nerve implant could let amputees control robotic legs with their thoughts

Summary

This study tests a new surgical nerve interface (RPNI) in 3 people with above-knee amputation. The goal is to see if it can provide stable signals to control a motorized prosthetic leg and give sensory feedback. Participants will have surgery to implant the interface and electrodes, then attend follow-ups for up to a year.
