New approach aims to heal Refugees' trauma by tackling Real-World struggles

NCT ID NCT04244864

Summary

This study tested a new way to help refugees suffering from PTSD and depression by combining standard mental health therapy with direct help for real-world problems like unemployment and language barriers. It involved 196 unemployed refugees in Denmark. Researchers compared the usual therapy alone to therapy plus coordinated support from local social services to see if addressing life stressors improved daily functioning and mental health.
