First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a structured reflexology foot massage can help adults aged 40 to 80 with poor sleep quality sleep better, feel less tired, and reduce insomnia. Over six weeks, 32 participants will receive both manual reflexology and mechanical foot massage sessions. Researchers will measure sleep quality, insomnia severity, fatigue, and heart rate changes to see if reflexology affects the nervous system.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

manual reflexology treatment

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a drug-free option to improve sleep and reduce fatigue in people with poor sleep quality.

What could go wrong

This is a small early-stage trial with only 32 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The benefits might be no better than a simple foot massage.
