Foot massage tested to ease childbirth stitching pain

NCT ID NCT06484309

Summary

This study tested whether a specific foot massage technique, called reflexology, could reduce the pain women feel while being stitched after a vaginal birth (an episiotomy repair). Researchers worked with 80 first-time mothers, randomly assigning half to receive the reflexology treatment and half to receive a simple foot massage for comparison. They measured pain levels during the procedure to see if the reflexology group reported less discomfort.
