Summary
This study looks at whether people with advanced upper rectal cancer can have a smaller surgery after receiving pre-treatment (chemotherapy or radiation). The goal is to remove less healthy tissue while still being safe and effective. About 874 adults will be randomly assigned to either standard or reduced surgical margins to compare cancer recurrence and recovery.
