First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving mothers of very low birth weight babies financial help to use breast pumps could increase the amount of mother's milk these babies receive. Black mothers are more likely to have very low birth weight babies but less likely to provide breast milk due to costs. The trial involved 362 mothers and tested if covering pump costs improved milk feeding rates at NICU discharge.
