NCT ID NCT05953662
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study compares a newer, less invasive type of surgery (reduced-port laparoscopy) to the standard approach for people with colon or upper rectal cancer. The goal is to see if the reduced-port method is just as safe and effective, while possibly causing less pain and speeding up recovery. About 500 adults aged 18-80 with non-metastatic colorectal cancer are taking part.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
reduced-port laparoscopic surgery
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a less invasive surgical option with fewer incisions, less pain, and faster recovery for colon and upper rectal cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial, so results are not yet proven. Reduced-port surgery is more technically challenging and may not be suitable for all patients or tumor types.
