New Two-Step transplant shows promise for blood cancer patients
NCT ID NCT01384513
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested a two-step stem cell transplant for people with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. The approach uses chemotherapy and radiation before donor stem cells are given, followed by drugs to prevent graft-versus-host disease. The goal was to control the cancer and improve survival, but patients need lifelong immune-suppressing medication, so it is not a cure.
