Summary
This study observes how anemia and red blood cell transfusions affect oxygen levels in the digestive tract of extremely low birth weight infants (≤1250 grams). Researchers will analyze blood, urine, and stool samples to find markers that may predict serious gut problems like necrotizing enterocolitis. The goal is to better understand risks, not to test a new treatment.
