Summary
This study is testing whether some rectal cancer patients who respond very well to chemotherapy and radiation can safely avoid surgery. Instead of having their rectum removed, these patients would enter a 'watch-and-wait' program with close monitoring. The goal is to preserve normal bowel function while achieving similar cancer control outcomes.
