First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at 180 adults with rectal cancer that had spread to lymph nodes in the pelvis. It compared a strong three-drug chemo regimen (FOLFOXIRI) plus surgery to remove those lymph nodes against standard chemo-radiation before surgery. The goal was to see if the new approach could keep cancer from coming back longer and improve survival. Researchers also looked for genetic markers to personalize treatment.
