Shorter radiation + immunotherapy could transform rectal cancer care

NCT ID NCT04928807

Summary

This study compares two treatment approaches given before surgery for locally advanced rectal cancer. One group receives a shorter course of radiation followed by chemotherapy and an immunotherapy drug (camrelizumab). The other group receives the standard longer course of radiation with chemotherapy. The main goal is to see which approach leads to more patients having no detectable cancer cells in their surgical tissue.
