Surgeons map hidden blood highways to make cancer surgery safer

NCT ID NCT05674097

Summary

This study aimed to understand how blood flow to the colon changes after a common rectal cancer surgery. Researchers used special CT scans before and after surgery on 89 patients to map the blood vessels. The goal was to see if their pre-surgery predictions about blood flow matched what actually happened, which could help future surgeons plan safer operations.
