Blood test guides chemo to stop deadly cancer return

NCT ID NCT07188025

Summary

This study is testing whether giving chemotherapy after surgery can prevent rectal cancer from returning in patients who are at high risk. Researchers will use a special blood test to identify patients who have tiny amounts of cancer DNA left after their operation. About 103 patients who test positive will be randomly assigned to receive either standard monitoring or additional chemotherapy to try to eliminate any remaining cancer cells and improve survival.
