New combo therapy aims to rebuild strength in elderly ICU survivors
NCT ID NCT05326633
First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026
Summary
This early-stage trial tests whether adding high-protein supplements, physical therapy, and mild electric stimulation can help older adults (60+) recover muscle mass and strength after a long ICU stay. About 78 participants will receive the combined treatment, and researchers will measure changes in muscle, strength, and inflammation. The goal is to improve recovery and reduce long-term disability in this vulnerable group.
