First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests whether a daily capsule of pasteurized Akkermansia muciniphila (a food supplement) can safely help adults recover after being in the ICU for sepsis. Fifty participants will take either the supplement or a placebo for 56 days. Researchers will check stool and blood samples to see if the supplement boosts good gut bacteria and supports immune recovery.
