First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study is testing a new device called the Recana Thrombectomy Catheter System to treat chronic blockages in veins. It will include 30 adults with symptoms like leg swelling or pain due to venous obstruction. The device is inserted into the vein to remove the blockage and restore blood flow. Researchers will check safety and how well it opens the vein during and up to a year after the procedure.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new way to treat chronic venous blockages without major surgery, potentially improving blood flow and reducing symptoms like swelling and pain.
What could go wrong
This is a small early study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The device could cause injury to the vein or other complications.
