New exercise approach aims to realign knees and ease pain
NCT ID NCT07410429
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares a standard physical therapy program with a targeted exercise program designed to improve knee alignment in adults aged 30-55 with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis and bow-legged alignment. About 80 participants will do either standard exercises or specific hip and leg exercises for 6 weeks, with follow-ups up to one year. The goal is to see if the targeted approach better reduces pain and improves function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
targeted alignment-focused exercise program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a more effective exercise approach for reducing knee pain and slowing osteoarthritis progression in people with bow-legged alignment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 80 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The exercises are supervised for only 6 weeks, and long-term benefits are uncertain.
