Could a simple belt replace CT scans for kids with cystic fibrosis?
NCT ID NCT05455671
First seen Nov 16, 2025 · Last updated Apr 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested whether electrical impedance tomography (EIT), a non-invasive imaging method, can detect lung changes in children and young adults with cystic fibrosis (CF). Researchers compared EIT to CT scans to see if it could identify air trapping and other lung problems. The goal was to find a safer, radiation-free way to monitor disease progression and treatment response. Participants included 48 people aged 3-21, both healthy and with CF.
