First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether adding a light-based treatment (photodynamic therapy) to the standard drug ranibizumab could reduce the number of eye injections needed for wet macular degeneration. Sixty adults over age 50 with the condition took part. The goal was to see if the combination worked as well as ranibizumab alone while requiring fewer injections.
