Radiation boost after pills aims to lock in skin cancer remission

NCT ID NCT05561634

Summary

This study is for people with a difficult-to-treat form of skin cancer (locally advanced basal cell carcinoma) who have successfully cleared their tumor with special pills (Sonic Hedgehog inhibitors). Because the cancer often comes back after stopping the pills, researchers want to see if adding a short course of radiotherapy right after the pills can help keep the cancer away for good. The study will compare the recurrence rates in patients who receive this 'consolidation' radiotherapy to those who do not.
