Zapping tremors without surgery: new radiation approach tested

NCT ID NCT04727658

Summary

This study is testing whether a non-surgical radiation treatment can safely reduce hand tremors in people with essential tremor or Parkinson's disease. Instead of using a specialized brain surgery machine, researchers are using a standard radiation machine that doesn't require head screws. The treatment delivers radiation in three smaller doses to try to protect healthy brain tissue while still targeting the tremor area.
