Brain radiation tested as last hope for unbearable cancer pain

NCT ID NCT03377517

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether a single, highly focused dose of radiation to a specific area of the brain (the pituitary gland) could help reduce severe, untreatable pain caused by cancer that has spread to the bones. The goal was to see if this approach was safe and effective for patients whose pain was not controlled by strong painkillers or other standard treatments. The study aimed to gather initial data to support a larger future trial.
