Ancient practice tested for modern pain: could gentle movements ease spinal injury suffering?
NCT ID NCT04917107
Summary
This study tested whether Qigong, a gentle mind-body practice combining movement, breathing, and focus, could reduce chronic nerve pain in adults with spinal cord injuries. Researchers enrolled 23 participants to practice Qigong for 12 weeks, measuring changes in pain, mood, and quality of life. The goal was to see if improving body awareness through this practice could offer a new option for pain that often doesn't respond well to current treatments.
