Can Job-Specific exercises help people with back pain return to work?
NCT ID NCT06594120
First seen Jul 09, 2026 · Last updated Jul 10, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at a new rehabilitation approach in Austria that adds work-specific exercises to standard medical rehab for people with musculoskeletal conditions like back pain. Researchers will follow two groups: one that gets a three-week work-focused program right away, and another that first has a three-week medical rehab before a four-week work-focused program. Participants fill out questionnaires at the start and end of their stay, and again at six and 12 months after, to see if their ability to work improves.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Multimodal rehabilitation with additional work-specific training
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that adding work-specific exercises to standard rehab helps people with musculoskeletal conditions return to work more effectively.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a randomized trial, so results may be less conclusive. The two groups are not directly compared, limiting the strength of any findings.
