Tiny pump could offer smoother control for rare disorder
NCT ID NCT00743782
Summary
This study tested if delivering a replacement hormone (PTH) through a small, wearable insulin pump is better than twice-daily injections for people with chronic hypoparathyroidism. This rare condition makes it hard for the body to regulate calcium. Researchers wanted to see if the pump could provide steadier, more natural control of calcium levels with a lower dose of medication. The study involved 21 participants, including both adults and children, who tried both methods.
