Does skin color affect Kids' oxygen readings? major study investigates

NCT ID NCT06529575

Summary

This study aims to find out if pulse oximeters—the clip-on devices that measure oxygen levels—are equally accurate for children of all skin colors. Researchers will observe 650 children under 18 who are already having a heart procedure, comparing the pulse oximeter reading to a more precise blood test. The goal is to gather essential data to ensure these common medical devices work fairly for everyone.
