Breathing new life: simple rehab program boosts lung cancer Patients' strength and quality of life

NCT ID NCT07532057

First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looked at whether an 8-week supervised program of breathing exercises, chest clearance techniques, and light strength training could help people with advanced lung cancer (stage IIIB or IV) who are getting chemotherapy. Thirty patients took part; half did the supervised program and half did simple breathing exercises at home. Those in the supervised program could walk much farther, had better lung function, and reported less trouble with symptoms like coughing and shortness of breath. The study shows that adding pulmonary rehabilitation to standard cancer care can make a real difference in daily life.
