New hope for Veterans' PTSD? brain hormone tested in groundbreaking trial

NCT ID NCT03799562

Summary

This study tested whether a medication called pregnenolone could help reduce symptoms of PTSD in veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. For 10 weeks, 96 veterans with PTSD received either the real medication or a placebo pill, without knowing which one. Researchers measured changes in PTSD symptoms, pain, and depression to see if the treatment worked.
