Veterans' PTSD study seeks best treatment match

NCT ID NCT04961190

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study compares three approaches for treating PTSD in military veterans: talk therapy (Prolonged Exposure), antidepressant medication (paroxetine or venlafaxine), or both together. About 300 veterans from six VA medical centers will be randomly assigned to one of these treatments for 14 weeks, with follow-ups up to 40 weeks. The goal is to see which treatment works best overall and to develop a tool that predicts the best option for each person.
