Prison PTSD therapy trial aims to cut symptoms and violations
NCT ID NCT07283757
Summary
This study is testing whether a group therapy program called Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) helps reduce PTSD symptoms and behavioral problems in incarcerated men and women. About 900 participants from 6 prison locations will be randomly assigned to either start therapy immediately or join a waitlist group that receives treatment later. The main goals are to see if the therapy reduces PTSD symptoms and decreases rule violations like assaults or substance use during incarceration.
