Can a breathing device or neck stimulator lower heart risk for veterans with PTSD?

NCT ID NCT01627301

Summary

This study is testing if two non-drug therapies can calm an overactive nervous system in veterans with PTSD, which is linked to higher heart disease risk. One therapy uses a breathing device to guide slow breathing, and the other uses mild electrical stimulation on the neck. Researchers want to see if 8 weeks of daily use improves nerve activity and blood vessel function, both at rest and during stress.
