Can breathing exercises protect the hearts of veterans with PTSD?
NCT ID NCT01627301
Summary
This study is testing if two simple, non-drug therapies can help calm an overactive nervous system in people with PTSD, which is linked to higher heart disease risk. Veterans with PTSD will use either a guided breathing device or a gentle neck stimulation device daily for 8 weeks. Researchers will measure if these therapies improve nervous system activity and blood vessel function, both at rest and during stress.
