One-Hour talk may quiet the world for Sound-Sensitive patients
NCT ID NCT04705246
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a single one-hour educational session with an audiologist can help people with hyperacusis (extreme sensitivity to sound) feel more comfortable around everyday noises. Five participants will track their sound exposure and sensitivity for one month using a smartphone app. Halfway through, each person receives the psychoeducation session. The goal is to see if this simple talk increases their tolerance to sound and reduces their discomfort.
