NCT ID NCT04705246
First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a single psychoeducation session can help people with hyperacusis (extreme sensitivity to everyday sounds) tolerate sounds more and feel less bothered. Five adults with hyperacusis will track their symptoms and sound exposure for one month using a smartphone app. At a random point, they receive a one-hour educational talk from an audiologist. The goal is to see if this simple talk increases their comfort with sounds and reduces their sensitivity.
