3D model helps surgeons target cancer spread in prostate patients
NCT ID NCT07129551
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a 3D virtual model, created from PSMA PET scans, can help surgeons better remove lymph node metastases in prostate cancer patients. About 102 participants will undergo surgery with the model used for planning and guidance. Researchers will measure how many metastases are removed, surgical precision, and patient quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- virtual 3D model
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could improve how surgeons find and remove lymph node metastases, potentially leading to better cancer control and quality of life for prostate cancer patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small feasibility study (102 participants) without a control group, so results may not be generalizable. The 3D model is a navigation aid, not a new treatment, and may not improve outcomes.
