New scan could spare men from unnecessary prostate biopsies

NCT ID NCT05948657

Summary

This study is testing a new type of imaging scan called PSMA-PET CT to see if it can accurately tell when a man's low-risk prostate cancer is not dangerous. It involves 200 men who have chosen active surveillance, which means monitoring their cancer instead of immediate treatment. Researchers hope this scan can give men and their doctors more confidence in their monitoring plan and potentially reduce the need for frequent, uncomfortable biopsies.
