Sleeping through the trip: scientists test psilocybin under anesthesia for depression

NCT ID NCT07479550

Summary

This study is testing a new method to improve research on psilocybin, a psychedelic compound, for treating major depression. To make the study more scientifically rigorous, participants will receive psilocybin or a placebo while under general anesthesia, so they won't know which they got. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and feasible, and to gather early data on whether it helps reduce depression symptoms.
