Magic mushroom therapy tested for depression

NCT ID NCT05227612

Summary

This small, early-stage study tested whether it is safe and practical to combine psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms') with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat major depression. Sixteen participants received two doses of psilocybin along with 12 therapy sessions. The main goals were to see if people could complete the combined treatment and to check if it helped reduce depression symptoms.
