Magic mushrooms tested as potential aid for opioid addiction
NCT ID NCT04161066
Summary
This early-stage study is testing whether psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' is safe for people with opioid addiction who are taking buprenorphine medication. Researchers will give 10 participants two doses of psilocybin while they continue their regular addiction medication. The main goal is to check for any safety issues when these two substances are combined, while also looking at whether psilocybin might help reduce cravings or improve quality of life.
