Magic mushrooms tested for veteran depression after spinal injury

NCT ID NCT07251491

Summary

This study aims to see if psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' is safe and tolerable for people with spinal cord injuries who also have depression. Researchers will give 30 veterans with spinal cord injuries different doses of psilocybin to check for side effects and see if it helps improve their mood, pain, and quality of life. The study will carefully monitor participants for over a year to understand both the risks and potential benefits.
