Magic mushroom compound tested as potential OCD treatment
NCT ID NCT05546658
Summary
This early-stage study is testing whether psilocybin, the active compound in psychedelic mushrooms, can help control symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Researchers at Johns Hopkins University will give 30 adults with treatment-resistant OCD two doses of psilocybin about two weeks apart, then track their symptoms, anxiety, depression, and quality of life for six months. The main goals are to check if this approach is safe and acceptable, and whether it reduces OCD symptoms.
