Magic mushroom drug tested as new hope for back pain sufferers
NCT ID NCT07306364
Summary
This Yale University study is testing whether a single dose of psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms') can help people with chronic low back pain get more benefit from physical therapy. Researchers want to see if the drug helps patients become more aware of their body sensations, which might reduce pain and improve movement. The study will involve 45 adults who will receive either psilocybin or a placebo pill before starting standard physical therapy.
